UN Security Council Votes As For month-long Syria Ceasefire

We all have been aware of the condition of Syria these days! United Nations has since voted in order to permit humanitarian access and evacuations. The members of the United Nations Security Council voted on a resolution demanding a 30-day humanitarian ceasefire across Syria. It is to be reported that the Syria death toll has risen on the amount of about 500 as the eastern bombing continues in Syria.

Moreover, the demand meant for the 30 days of the ceasefire was carried out to on the  basis that was immediately needed. Just one minute after the voting, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that news that the Syrian regime warplanes had even bombed eastern Ghouta, a besieged rebel enclave of about the amount of 400,000 people.

This overall voting of the resolution has been on the whole proposed by the Kuwait and Sweden, even pulling it off, after about three days of Russian objections. The version that was accepted was a little bit different than the original version. The vote was postponed for two hours on Saturday as Russia ditched at the last minute.   In the last five days, it has been reported around that more than 520 deaths and more than 2,500 wounded.

In short, this resolution is demanding for the access of the humanitarian deliveries and medical evacuation to the amount of about 5.6 million people in 1,244 communities.

London Witnessed 20% Rise in Rape Reports in a Year

It’s been said that India is the country that has been witnessing a high rate of the rape incidents, but now it seems like London is getting trolled on the same list. In the last year or so, it has been reported that the London has witnessed with around 20% rise in the rape reports suddenly. Police have admitted that they do not know the actual reason behind such a high rise in the percentage and that too in the course of just one year. It would not be wrong to say that there has been something happening in the sexual offending in London that we are not understanding at all.

It is to bementioned that in the year till January, more than 7,600 cases have been reported against the rape incidents. This is getting into the comparison with the 6,392 over the previous 12 months. This is the exact accurate figure that has been collated by the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime (MOPAC). According to the Sir Craig Mackey who is the deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police stated that the rise in the reports has been not accounted just for simply by getting into more victims who are able to report the abuse.

Joanne McCartney who is the deputy mayor of London even held the meeting with the Sir Craig’s as for where for the very first time both the officers have sat down at one table. Susan Hall who is the Conservative assembly member has called on the police in order to measure out with some outcomes against the control of the violence in the women and girls in the capital.

Reporting a Pair of Impaired Drivers in Digby Area

Nova Scotia RCMP says that two residents in the Digby area saved some road accidents by reporting two incidents of drunken drivers in the area.

According to police, the first call came around 4:30 p.m. on 3rd Feb 2018 reporting of an abandoned vehicle in the middle of Shore Road. The officers caught that 50-year old man, a resident of Digby and accused him of an impaired driving charge. He was released from the police custody but will appear in the Digby Provincial Court on 9th April.

The second similar incident was reported on 4th February 2018 when a truck was observed to go dangling on the Highway 217 Centreville and drove into the ditch. The witness called the 911 around 7 p.m. on 4th Feb said the cops and reported them of a swerving truck on the Highway that was changing the speeds continuously and finally fell into a ditch.

The police arrested the drunken driver, a 62-year old man from Marshalltown, and charged him an impairing driving charge. He was also released from their custody and will appease in the Digby Provincial Court on 9th April.

The police thanked the two “watching residents” for their prompt calls and making the road secure for any further accidents. And they asked the others to do the same as if they see any suspected impaired driver.

The police also requested to call 911 immediately in case of such incidents with the following information, if in case any other incident happens in future:

  • A brief description of the vehicle and the driver
  • The license plate number
  • Direction of travel

Call 911, with the above-given details to avoid any risks of severe car accidents that may risk someone’s life.

Non-Defense Aid to Pakistan should End, U.S. Congress

The U.S. House of Representatives joined the Senate recently to ask fora halting of the U.S. economic assistance to Pakistan while Trump administration has already halted its military assistance to Pakistan. A bill was introduced in the House saying the non-defense assistance to Pakistan should now be put to an end and the money set aside for this purpose should be spent on infrastructure projects in the United States.

The reason behind this approval as provided by the movers is, “Pakistan provides military and intelligence aid to terrorists”, a charge that Pakistan strongly denies. On its defense, Pakistan claims that the U.S is just blaming their country as they themselves fail to hide their failure in Afghanistan where they tried to initiate an insurgency.

The Congressmen Mark Sanford from South Carolina and Thomas Massie from Kentucky seeks to prohibit the US State Department and the US Agency for International Development (USAID) from sending American taxpayer money to Pakistan. Instead, they ask for these funds to be invested in Highway Projects and road infrastructures in the U.S.

It seems like the Congressmen are offended to know that their money is being used to award the terrorist whereas it can be used to some great State’s developing projects. Most of the people in Senator agreed with the legislation to bring back the money home instead of spending it on a nation who burns their flag and imprison a doctor who helped them finding Osama. Instead, the money can be invested in Highway Trust Fund for which the money falls short by $111 billion by 2026. It completely makes sense. The current debate in the House got more aired by President Donald Trump’s tweet that accused Pakistan to receive more than $33 billion in recent 15 years and in return giving nothing but false promises.

A New Impaired Driving Campaign by Weyburn Police

Drinking and driving has been reported as being one of continuous problems in Saskatchewan Canada, but now Weyburn Police is attempting to take new steps by offering free taxi rides.

An initiative to curb Drunk Driving in Weyburn, Saskatchewan is hoping to minimize the chances of alcohol related car accidents by offering free voucher rides. They believe people would like to take more advantage of these free and safe rides to drive them home instead of driving themselves. It might change the culture of impaired driving and tackle with drinking and driving problems all through Sask.

They named the campaign as “This Ride’s on Us” to get maximum of the residents to ride with them instead of getting drunk and getting into various car accidents. According to the plan, the patrons who think that they had too much can leave their keys with the bar staff and can get the free driving vouchers to get home. They can pick up their keys at Weyburn Police Station next day.

“Since 2017, we have seen a gradual increase in impaired driving and according to an estimate it has raised by 22%. So, we are trying something different or perhaps implementing to reduce the risks of impaired driving as much as we can”, said Weyburn police chief Marlo Pritchard.

The campaign is not about drinking at all but not drinking while driving. As most of the impaired driving cases led to some dreadful car wrecks and several deaths too. The program is expected to get most of the keys to the bar or rather people will take care while driving, hopefully.

Troubling Pattern in Syria

There were reports of several Chemical attacks on Syria, reported recently. The victims that appear to be effected by Chlorine gas were taken to the hospital. The ambassador of United States Nikki Haley said to the United Nations, “Few things have horrified my country and the world as well of chemical weapons against these people”. She asked for stopping the use of all the chemical weapons on innocent people immediately and stop the bloodshed. She says, “Our goal must be to end the use of these evil, unjustifiable weapons”. She not only demanded the abandoning of these harmful weapons but destroying them all under supervision. It seems like no council of the world is ready to take some action against these chemical attacks. There are multiple assaults reported on Syrian people from weeks including just yesterday. There are dozens of victims who can report the obvious incidence multiple times. There must be a security council press statement condemning these attacks. So far, Russia has delayed the adoption of any statement. Russia must take appropriate step to stop the suffocation of Syrian children by the chlorine gas and the chemical attacks by condemning these attacks, at least. Though accountability is the first basic step in raising voice against this act of atrocity there should be an end to these now. We can only come close to our goals when the actions will have consequences, traitors will be punished. But if we, as a community can’t take even the initial step of accountability of these chemical weapons, we seriously need to ask ourselves “why we are here”? Until or unless the people who use these weapons meet some serious punishments, we can’t expect an end to this troubling pattern in Syria.

A deadly Car Smash by a Drunk Driver in the Bronx

A drunk motorist set off a deadly chain of a car crash that led to the death of a man and two injured ladies in the Bronx, 3rd Feb 2018, early Saturday late at night at 2:50 a.m., reported by the police.

The drunken, Andres Mayora, 56 was driving a Jeep northbound up Bronx Blvd. in Parkside late at night when he smashed into the back of a silver Nissan Altima, also traveling in the same direction. The car was operated by Shiquan Dunn who was just 31, said the police.

The collision led the Dunn’s car out of control which again bumped into another Nissan Altima who was taking a left onto the highway from Burke Avenue, as reported by cops.

Whereas the Mayora’s jeep crashed into another two cars parked outside an apartment and led to another car wreck, said the police.

From this deadly chain of car wrecks, Dunn died at the spot while a 28-year woman sitting next to him on the passenger seat was taken to the nearby Jacoby Medical Centre, and reported to have minor injuries.

There was also a woman in the second Altima, 48-year old and Mayora was also taken to Jacoby Medical center, with minor injuries.

The deadly incident led to the death of a young man and two injured women while the intoxicated driver was charged with driving under the influence and will be punished that way.

How does the Fourth Amendment affect a drunk driving case?

Under the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and under state established arrangements, one has the right to be secured in their persons, papers and effects. When police or law enforcement has administered a compulsory blood test, especially without a warrant, then there may be Fourth Amendment issues present such as those involving searches and seizures.

If you or a family member have been recently arrested or charged with driving while intoxicated and were compelled to give a blood test without your consent, contact a drunk driving defense attorney to talk about your case.

This foundation all ends up noticeably significant to the Court’s decision when we swing to the alcoholic driving capture situation. Normally, such a capture happens when police watch an example of driving that proposes inebriation, including weaving or other, showed ineptitude in the driver’s seat. In light of their perceptions of such driving, which add up to “sensible doubt” of DWI, police may pull over or briefly “stop” the alcoholic driving suspect for advance examination.

At this stage, police may ask the speculate questions, investigate the presumes eyes (for indications of inebriation), sniff at the air close to the suspect (for the stink of liquor), and maybe request that the presume walk a straight line or generally show the kind of coordination that most calm individuals display. The officer may likewise request that the speculate take a breathalyzer test. In the event that the speculates conduct, appearance, aroma, as well as breathalyzer, comes about (or the refusal to take a breathalyzer test) offer ascent to reasonable justification to trust that the driver is inebriated, at that point the officer may capture him for DWI.

By comparison, the lion’s share approach offers officers for all intents and purposes no direction by any stretch of the imagination, yet states just that “[i]n those alcoholic driving examinations where cops can sensibly get a warrant before a blood test can be drawn without essentially undermining the viability of the inquiry, the Fourth Amendment orders that they do as such” (accentuation included). Such a dubious mandate, maybe amusingly, may altogether undermine the adequacy of the greater part’s sentiment.

Judge punishes lawyer for using hashtag

A Pennsylvania judge recently overturned a $27.8 million verdict against the makers of the blood thinner Xarelto in a lawsuit by an Indiana woman who claimed the drug caused severe gastrointestinal bleeding.

Judge Michael Erdos issued a judgment despite the decision as a result of a declaration by the recommending specialist for offended party Lynn Hartman, report the Legal Intelligencer (sub. req.) and Law360.

Erdos rejected an alternate ground for overturning the verdict that was based on an Instagram photo by a lawyer for the plaintiff that used the hashtag “#killinnazis”. Erdos nonetheless reprimanded and punished the lawyer for the post, the Legal Intelligencer (sub. req.) reported in a previous story.

Hartman’s case is among around 1,500 Xarelto suits pending in Philadelphia County. Xarelto producers beforehand won three claims documented in Louisiana government court.

Hartman’s lawyers had argued the drug companies should have warned that U.S. patients taking Xarelto had a higher rate of bleeding than patients in other countries, and that some patients had higher levels of Xarelto in their blood than others.

The attorneys kept up that the specialist would have educated Hartman about expanded dangers on the off chance that she had tried Hartman for blood coagulation levels, and Hartman wouldn’t have taken Xarelto in light of the data. Erdos found the contention was too speculative.

The specialist affirmed that she didn’t talk about rates with patients, and she wouldn’t yield that the tone of her discussion with Hartman would have been an extraordinary, Erdos said.

Lawyers for the drug companies, Germany-based Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, had recommended another reason to overturn the verdict: a lawyer’s Instagram photo of the courtroom using the hashtag #killinnazis. The defense had claimed the hashtag and closing arguments pointed to plaintiffs’ attempt to link the defendants to Nazi Germany.

Erdos said the ‘killinnazis’ hashtag on the court photograph was “underneath the pride of the lawful calling.” Legal counselor Ned McWilliams had posted the photograph. Erdos rebuffed McWilliams by denying his genius bad habit status, which had enabled the Florida legal counselor to deal with the Xarelto claim in Pennsylvania.

Erdos ordered another lawyer, Emily Jeffcott, to pay $2,500 and perform 25 hours of community service for posting a courtroom photo with Erdos on the bench to Instagram. The photo was later used in promotional materials for Jeffcott’s firm.
